It’s a pleasure to meet you!
My name is Kat Macías (it’s pronounced muh-SEE-us). I’m a part of the Cuban and Puerto Rican diasporas and a guest on Cherokee and Muscogee land where I live here in Athens, Georgia! I come from a long lineage of spiritual seekers and leaders. Carrying this legacy, I’ve worked with others to build the communities we most need in the world - including Lefty weekend gatherings, a DC congregation called New Synagogue Project, JVP Havurah Network, the Radical Jewish Calendar, and I even served on the bargaining committee of a nonprofit union. Much of my working life in the last 10 years has been in the Jewish social justice field.
I’ve also done some learning! I have an M.Ed. in Social Justice Education and training as a Movement Chaplain and Spiritual Director.
